Beam Me Up, Scotty!

I know I'm in the middle of packing, and I have to be done within 15 minutes before my help arrives, but this is way too important to pass up. Guess who's 84 years old today.

That's right, James Doohan, who was born in Vancouver. But, do you know what else is cool?

He's getting his own Hollywood Star today. Crazy.

"Lt. Uhura, report.
There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.

Analysis, Mr. Spock.
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it's life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.

Medical update, Dr. McCoy.
It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead, Jim;
it's worse than that, he's dead, Jim, dead, Jim, dead.

Starship Captain, James T. Kirk:
Ah! We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, shoot to kill;
we come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, men.

Engine Room, Mr. Scott:
Ye cannot change the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics;
ye cannot change the laws of physics, laws of physics, Jim."

Holiday...far away

So...for the record, I have moved again. It's almost like I'm Moey or something (tee he he...that was a joke). I live in the dorms. Well, for today. Tomorrow, I'm off to the island. Hooray! A holiday for me. But this is to say to everyone who I won't see, have a fun week. Enjoy this last chance of freedom - well, those of you who do have to come back to the hill.

AND...I am done cleaning bathrooms! YIPEE!!! That's how excited I am. Done, done and done! Never to clean the entire Holdcroft in a single day again. And I've come to a decision. The guy that I marry will have to make some sort of vow at our wedding that says he'll clean the bathroom for the rest of our lives. I think that's the way it's gotta be. I've done my share for a lifetime I do think. Hehe.

My new number is 6947.

Goodbye for now.

Sweet Home, Alaba....Abbotsford

3 Days and counting. I've never quite understood that saying. It's not like if I stop counting, the 3 days won't elapse.

"You know the time to act is now
Before the sands of time run out
I know that I could never
Fall from grace, I'm far too clever
I will achieve my destiny
My stars assent a certainty
I know that I could never
Fall from grace, I'm far too clever"

And the subject's closed
Worst case scenario becomes real
It don't show"

Welcome back Holly

As a welcome home present, here is something I found on the internet:

My bestest friend in the whole entire world is Holly Ann Dalrymple… she is going to Southwest Texas University in San Marcos and I miss her very, very much!

"It's easier not to be wise
And measure these things by your brains
I sank into Eden with you
Alone in the church by and by
I'll read to you here, save your eyes
You'll need them, your boat is at sea
Your anchor is up, you've been swept away
And the greatest of teachers won't hesitate
To leave you there, by yourself, chained to fate"

"I alone love you
I alone tempt you
I alone love you
Fear is not the end of this!"

Holly

That was a pretty inspiring thing to read.

really...

thanks

Life

I'm home. And I'm glad. God is so good. I've been doing alot of thinking while I was away. Its amazing how much one can think when away from regular responsibilities. Boy is my life ever going to change.

"Radder?"

I get to pick up Holly-Anne from the airport today!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

It's so rad.
Radder than rad.
Thanks Slynn for coining that one.

By the way, I think the hippie/girly look works for you. It is also one of my favourite looks for girls, and you pull it off well. You're truly a pioneer in "Hippie Chic".

Later.

Hippie Meets Girlie

So I've decided that if I had to classify my "style" (or what I would like to be my style) it would be hippie meets girlie (girly?). I really like hippie stuff. But most of it is not too feminine. And I do like feminine. It is pretty. So I shall try to be the most girlie hippie that there is around.
I know...this is ridiculous.

Holly, come home soon!!! I miss you way too much!

I just have to say that I think God is so incredibly amazingly cool! Do you ever have those moments where you are blown away and completely ecstatic about how great something is? That's how I feel. And what is even radder is that a lot of it has to do with what I see happening in the lives of the people around me and close to me. I see what God is doing now, and glimpses of what He has for people in the future, and it is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Moey and I prayed for all our friends last night. It was truly good. Just thought I'd let you know.

My car is fixed.

I spent 5 hours in downtown Langley while they got a new alternator and replaced it.
It did nothing.
Ultimately the guy gave my car a sort of bypass surgery. He rigged up a wire, and hooked it directly from my alternator to my battery. It was genius. And it was free.
Unfortunately it took 5 hours to figure out that this was the only solution.
But now my car works.
Hooray!

I am at the library for the second time today. My car is getting fixed (hopefully) and I have nothing to do. So here I am. That means that I walked to the library from the repair place twice. I thought about how hot it is twice. I crossed sketchy intersections twice. I even checked out the girl at the counter of the finance department twice. Crazy.

I miss Holly Anne.
Come back HA.

Tomorrow I should be finished recording for my band. That will be nice. Our farewell show is some house party somewhere. Awesome.

I hope my car gets fixed.

!!!

The wedding went really well

Bah! This posting thing is not working out for me. We'll see how this goes.

The Berry Party is now over. It was good times all around. We ate berries. We talked. We laughed. Donkers even had an epic moment where he caught a moth with his bare hand...and then gently let it go with a slight breath of air. It was classic. Guess you had to be there.

We missed all who could not come. However, there's always next year. Mark your calendars. Details to come.

And a note to Andrew. As great as the night was, I just have one thing to say to you. How about let's just be friends??? (tee hee).

Laura and I cleaned the entire dorm today, single-handedly. I think that deserves at least a passing thought of recognition. Only four more times do I have to do it!!! The countdown is on.

And tonight my family comes to see me. Hooray!

I am woman, hear me roar: ..... meow.

Slynn, I'm absolutely sure he won't mind, too much. He once told me that if I ever started to like you, he would only be mad at me for a month. So, I asked you out July 27, and I probably won't see him before August 27, so it's all good.

I ran into a friend on the street the other day. His name is Michael. I hadn't seen him in a while. I thought to myself that I would love to live in a community where I actually know people (btw, the school is a little too contrived for it to count, I'm implying more like a neighbourhood). I'm torn between big city upbringing and a wanderlust for small towns. I thought to myself that I will write a song for my friend Michael, or maybe I'll just let somebody else do it for me.

"They were closer now Fernando
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Fernando
We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry"

"There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando"

The sister's wedding

I am not too sure in the grand scheme of things... but this day is ranking right up there

How blessed am I

P.S.

One more thing:
Andrew, if you are indeed planning to come, and still would like to be my date, it may be a good idea to clear that with the front desk manager of the Western Budget Motel. He will give you the call on that one. (Because I can't make calls like this on my own...err...)
Hehe.

Berry Party Details

Note: To Andrew (and whoever else may be unsure)
Berry Party IS in fact this Saturday, August 14, 2004.
It will take place in room 205 of the Morrison.
It will start sometime around 7:30ish (I expect to be back from work by then, but never can be positive).
All are invited.
Bring berries. (Is someone bringing strawberries??? That would be very nice).
For any questions contact Sara-Lynn at 604-851-6975.
Please come!
Just think, you have the chance to be a part of a new tradition that people may still be talking about 50 years from now. Who knows? It's possible.
That is all.

871

Apparently, there are exactly 871 ways to die. Crazy!

Here's a sample of something I tried to write the other day during a bad case of writer's block:

" "

"Well, I built me a raft and she’s ready for floatin’
Ol’ mississippi, she’s callin’ my name
Catfish are jumpin’That paddle wheel thumpin’
Black water keeps rollin’ on past just the same
Old black water, keep on rollin’
Mississippi moon, won’t you keep on shinin’ on me"

"I’d like to hear some funky dixieland
Pretty mama come and take me by the hand"

Then who did take out my garbage???
Because it was gone when I came back. So a big thank you to this mysterious person.
And no worries Andrew, apology accepted...though if it does happen again you can most assuredly expect a slap in the face.

My life is in the dumps

I would like to make an apology.

Slynn, forgive me please. You trusted me, and I let you down. Next time, I'll try harder. If I ever promise to take out your garbage again, and fail to do so, you may slap me. Now that's a promise I can keep.

"I Slide Myself Forward
Through My Head
I Think Half Way
BackwardsSee Myself Sing The Anthem
That We Wrote Together
We Had A Dream
We Had Everything
We Rode To The End Of The World
We Rode Searching
Climbed Skyscrapers
That Later Exploded
The Peace Was Out
I Leak Balance
Fall Down
I Slide Myself Forward
Through My Head
I always come back to the same place
Total Silence
No Answer
But The Best Thing God Has Created
Is A New Day"

I think this is the most bittersweet time of my life ever! Bitter because I am so sick of my job and almost at the point of hating it, I live in a grossly old building, and I am away from Dan still...after already a whole year of him being gone. Sweet because most of my close friends live around here keeping me from going insane and contributing to many good times, it is summer and sunny for the most part (except today) and I have the most incredible boyfriend in the world who I get to see for these flash visits of pure bliss. I suppose the sweetness is enough to get through the bitter parts of life. Otherwise, it would suck a lot more.

Donkers, I think you would have gone for my set-up...if the timing and circumstances were different.

Don't forget: Berry Party, coming soon!

Did I mention that we (Dan and I) met Matthew Good the other day? Well, we did. It was cool. We chased after him. And shook his hand. And he talked to us for a bit and then said, "Well, cheers!" And left. Definitely cool.

It's pretty funny.
I don't really go for setups.
Especially with non-Christians.
But her friend is definitely cute.

Slynn, are you talking about me?

Yes! I made that joke before Blackwood.
Yes!!!

Andrew, if you change this again, be assured I will eat your children.

Andrew: Okay Dan, no problem.

Just for the record, when I do blog about things on my mind, it is never about one person or situation specifically. Most often there are a number of things that brought about whatever it is that is on my mind. I've had people ask me if I was talking about them when I write certain things. I don't ever single people out like that. Maybe different situations involving people influence my thoughts, but it's not usually one specific thing that I blog about.
Just wanted to clear that up.
In other news today, I get to scrub more showers. Hip hip hooray!

Battle of the Bands

I was in a band once. I played drums. Our hit song was "All Mommy Does is Scrub Our Heads." It was written by my sister in 1990. This other guy, Matt, started a band in Coquitlam too. He was much better than we were. He's also an ass.

"Picture yourself swimming in an ocean
1,000,000 miles from nowhere and the nearest phone
There's bodies in the waterfloating all around you
And all of them are talking, and they're comedians
And hey are you you know?
And hey are you special?
And hey are you deformed?
Hey ya you are"

"I'm frantic
So load me up"
